School Bond and Levies - VOTE FEB 9th

The Hollywood Hill Elementary PTA Executive Board has approved a resolution in support of the Northshore School District Bond and Levies on the February 9, 2010 ballot. Please click to read this resolution.

The two levies are a continuation of what the Northshore School District community had approved in the past.
The four-year Renewal Education Operation Support (M&O) Levy supports the daily operations of our schools and,
a four-year Renewal School Technology Levy provides for technology updates (the state provides no funding for technology upgrades.)

The Capital Project Bond will help renovate and update aging schools. Specifically Hollywood Hill Elementary has been identified as needing new carpeting (the carpeting has not been replaced in 30 years.)

The Board encourages all Hollywood Hill community members to learn more about the levy bond issues. A presentation regarding the measures will be at the PTA General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, January 26th in the library at 7:00pm.

Julia Lacey, District 1, Sandy Hayes, District 4, and Todd Banks, District 6, join Janet Quinn and Dawn McCravey on the Northshore School District board.
We thank the outgoing board members Sue Buske, Gene Hawkridge and Cathy Swanson for their many years of dedication and service to bettering our school community.

Did you hear the NEWS about the lawsuit?

NEWS is a coalition of more than 70 community organizations, school districts (including Northshore SD) and education associations representing thousands of voters, parents, teachers and other concerned citizens who believe the kids of our state deserve a first class K-12 education. Plagued with a long-outdated state funding system that fails to fully fund even the basic elements of a high quality 21st century education, NEWS has been forced to file a lawsuit asking the courts to order the State of Washington to live up to its paramount constitutional duty to make ample provision for the education of all Washington children.
